Gateshead Council own the Clara Vale Nature Reserve land and lease it to the CVCG, who manage it on a day-to-day basis.

When the Reserve and conservation area status was initially granted, the Council assisted with clearing the site of remaining buildings, landscaping and fencing. Today, the Council still support the CVCG with land management advice, technical support and on an occasional basis,  loans of equipment and machinery.
